Information about one way rentals in New Zealand
and answers to other questions we frequently get
asked about hire in NZ. If you have any others
please ask us.
| Q |
Do you
provide one way car rental? |
| A |
Yes you
can book one way car rental. However the
rates shown here apply to round trips
beginning in Auckland (pick up Auckland -
drop off Auckland). If you require one way
car rental, or a pick up in Christchurch or
Wellington, please use our
Quotation Form and we'll confirm a rate. |

| Q |
What is
GST which we see it written next to
prices? |
| A |
All goods
and services purchased in New Zealand are
subject to 12.5% Goods and Services tax. This
tax is included in Affordable Rental Car's
low car rental rates excluding trucks. You do
not need to add this to the prices you see
listed here. What you see is what you pay. No
hidden extra costs! |

| Q |
Affordable Rental Cars rates are way below
what we've been quoted by other rental car
firms. So what sort of car will we
get? |
| A |
The bulk
of our rental fleet has been brought into New
Zealand in the last 2 years. The cars we
import are predominantly Toyotas and Nissans,
with most being around 5 years old. With this
large quality fleet and by keeping overheads
low we are able to provide New Zealand car
hire at highly competitive prices. |

| Q |
Affordable Rental
Cars don't require an advance payment
to secure bookings, unlike other New Zealand
car hire companies. So how can we be sure a
car will be reserved for us when we turn
up? |
| A |
We can take advance payment if you wish
(click here to do so -
Secure
credit card payments). However we don't
insist on it for several reasons:
- Before paying us we want you to see
our cars so you're happy you've made the
right choice.
- Regardless of whether you've paid in
advance or not, we'll have your booked
car ready for you, And if for any reason
you're unhappy with our product or
service you are under absolutely no
obligation to hire the vehicle!

| Q |
Do
Affordable Rental
Cars have air conditioning and power
steering? |
| A |
Yes, most
of them do. |

| Q |
Are the
rental cars from Affordable Rental Cars
auto or manual? |
| A |
Our fleet
of cars has both manual and auto vehicles
available. Let us know your preference when
you make your
booking |

| Q |
What
sort of driving licences are required in New
Zealand? |
| A |
You can
legally drive in New Zealand for up to 12
months if you have either a current driver's
licence from your home country, or an
International Driving Permit
All drivers, including overseas visitors,
must carry their licence or permit when
driving. You will only be able to drive the
same types of vehicles you are licensed to
drive in your home country.
Make sure your overseas driver's licence is
current. If your licence is not in English,
you should bring an English translation with
you or obtain an International Driving
Permit. Contact your local automobile club
for further details about obtaining a
translation or an International Driving
Permit. |

What
are New Zealand's Road Rules? |
| A |
Here's a brief over-view. You can get more
details
here
- In New Zealand, all vehicles drive on
the left-hand side of the road
- When turning left, give way (or
yield) to traffic crossing or approaching
from your right
- When the traffic light is red, you
must stop
- There is no left turn rule as in
North America
- Speed limits are strictly enforced by
police using radar, speed cameras and
un-marked patrol cars. Fines for speeding
can be expensive
- The speed limit on the open road is
100km/h (approx 60mph)
- In built up areas the speed limit is
50km/h. (approx 30 mph)
- Drivers and passengers must wear seat
belts at all times
